Jack D. Sherer's Obituary
Jack D. Sherer was born on August 15, 1928 in Seneca, Missouri to Forest & Bessie Sherrick Sherer.
He died in a Portland hospital on December 29, 2004 at the age of 76.
He was educated in Missouri until age 8, then lived in Grant, New Mexico and L.A., CA. moving to St. Helens in 1948 until present.
He was in the Navy, he then married Jeanne in St. Helens in 1949.
He had Jack's Mobil station in St. Helens, worked for Crown Zellerbach, and was a construction millwright & machine erector for Local Union 116 I.B.P.S.P.M.W., also union secretary '64-'65. After retirement he was a farmer, put up hay and raised cattle.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Elks Club, VFW and Yankton Grange. He enjoyed hunting Racoon, Bobcat and Bear and had tracking hounddogs. In later years he hunted with a camera. He enjoyed telling stories, woodworking and taxidermy.
Survived by: Wife: Jeanne Sherer of St. Helens; Daughters: Suzen Sherer Scott of Beaverton; Sally Sherer McLoughlin of Washougal, WA.; sons: Stephen Sherer of Vancouver, WA.; Stan Sherer of Boring, OR.; Siblings: Jo Japs of St. Helens; Gary Sherer of Conoga Park, CA.;8 grandchildren; Christopher & Caitlin Scott, Megan & Bethany Sherer; Amy & Thomas Sherer; Andrew McLaughlin & Kelly Keeth; 4 great grandchildren.
Celebration of Life: Monday, January 3, 2005 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church-St. Helens.
Private family committal service & interment: Bayview Memorial Cemetery-Warren, OR.
