James G. Ziegler's Obituary
James G. Ziegler was born on September 10, 1938 in Portland, Oregon to George & Beulah Faith Ziegler.
He died at a Portland hospital on November 22, 2009 at the age of 71.
Jim was active in Chapman Community Church serving many years as the chairman of the board. He was on the general council of the Churches of God in Oregon and SW Washington. He was chairman of the camp management commission and worked seeing that camp meetings had the physical equipment needed for a successful camp meeting. He was a member of St. Helens Masonic Lodge serving 2 terms as worshipful master, earning the Hiran Award for service. He was also a member of Scottish Rite in Portland, being the first person to be awarded an Albert Pike Medal. He was the president of the Columbia County Shrine Club.
At age 70 he went back to school so he could get a general contractors license and electrical contractors license to volunteer his services to churches and youth camps. He worked for many years as a supervising electrician for Schnitzer Steel Co., he has many young men and ladies who consider him Grandpa.
His favorite activities included golfing with Lloyd, managing food service for camp meetings, camping, Scottish Rite Degree work, volunteering electrical work and hanging out with family and friends.
Survivors include: Wife: of 51 years: Jean Harris Ziegler; Son: Tony L. Ziegler; Daughter & Son-in-law: Tina S. & Clifton Scrivner; grandchildren: Kristopher, Kara, Katya Scrivner; Sister & Brother-in-law: Judith & Lloyd Prink; Sister-in-law: Phyllis Green.
Memorial service: Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Park Community Church-St. Helens and January 10, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Scottish Rite Temple in Portland.
Memorial contributions may be made to White Branch Youth Camp, Scottish Rite Speach Centers, or Shriners Hospital for Children.
