James L. Marquardt
James L. Marquardt of Scappoose, Oregon passed away January 19, 2009 at the age of 80.
James was born on January 1, 1929 in Camas, Washington to Rufert H. and Mabel Ogle Marquardt.
He moved to St. Helens, Oregon in 1955 and then to Scappoose in 1963 until his death.
James graduated from JM Perry Technical Institute in Yakima, Washington. He was in the United States Marine Corp from 1946 -1948. Before retiring in 1978, James worked as an Instrument Technician for Boise Cascade for 23 years.
He never missed mass and attended at St. Fredric Catholic Church, St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, and St. Brigetta Catholic Church. James was also a member of the 3rd and 4th degree in the Knights of Columbus.
James enjoyed hunting, making pies, and fishing which included fishing for salmon and steelhead on the Columbia River and Willamette Slough.
He is survived by his daughters; Jan T. Fancher of Vancouver, Washington, Mary M. Lowry and her husband Michael of Milton, Washington, Danielle A. Wiese and her husband Mark of Tualatin, Oregon, and Sonia Fuller and her husband Dave of Scappoose, Oregon. Her sons; James J. Marquardt and his wife Darlene of Scappoose, Oregon and Peter G. Marquardt of Scappoose, Oregon. His brother Richard E. Marquardt and his wife Mary of Cedar City, Utah and 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren also survive him.
His ex-wife Ann Marquardt preceded him in death in 2004.
A Devine Mercy Service will be held at 7:00pm on January 23, 2009 at Columbia Funeral Home in St. Helens, Oregon.
Rosary will be held at 10:00 am followed a Funeral Mass at 10:30 am at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Scappoose, Oregon.
Remembrances may be made to the Columbia County Special Olympics.
