Janett Smiley's Obituary
Janett Lucille Smiley, 77, of Columbia City, Oregon, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2014.
She was born to the late Earl Walton and Velda (McCready), Oct. 23, 1936, in Arcata, California. Janett graduated from Arcata Union High School in 1954. She remained in the Arcata area, marrying the late Lee Smiley in 1959 and having three kids, they later divorced. Janett and her family moved to Vernonia, Oregon in 1971. She soon started working at the St Helens court building as a court clerk. She moved to St Helens in 1983 where she remained until her death. Janett was a court clerk in St. Helens, Oregon until she retired after 27 years of service.
Janett was an avid bingo player who played at the Moose Lodge, St. Helens Senior Center, and Scappoose Senior Center. She also enjoyed playing bunco. She also took up scrap booking where she enjoyed making cards for her family and friends.
Janett is survived by three children: Mike (Lynn) Smiley, of Kelso, Washington; Shelli (Chuck) Welter, of Scappoose, Oregon; and Jim Smiley, of Beaverton, Oregon. She also is survived by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to Moose Charities.
A memorial service will be held at the Moose Lodge, 57317 Old Portland Rd, Warren, Oregon 97053 at 2:30 pm. August 9,2014.
