Jason Wills' Obituary
It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our dear son Jason Wills, age 50, of Troutdale, Oregon passed away on November 12, 2023.
Jason was a man of many talents with a great sense of adventure. He mainly grew up in Portland, Oregon, but spent 5 years in Jackson, Mississippi and Birmingham, Alabama. He was baptized at Gethsemane Lutheran Church and confirmed at Ascension Lutheran Church in Portland.
He grew up playing in Little League, Youth, and Classic League soccer, and played baseball while attending Centennial High School, where he graduated.
Inspired by his Uncle Jack, Jason attended firefighting classes at Portland Community College and volunteered at Sandy Fire Station for a short time. He moved on to become a driver for UPS, his career with them spanning over 25 years.
He learned to play the saxophone in grade school band and loved music. Jason loved Dave Matthews Band and for many years went to their concerts at The Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington. He was also a huge Star Wars fan and had a collection of the franchise’s Lego models. Throughout his life, Jason loved being outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, photography, and especially golfing. He was a member of the NW Golf Guys Players Club.
Jason once took a trip to the Denali Wilderness and stayed for over a month. There were also trips to Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico, Disneyland, Arizona, and many excursions to Hawaii.
Jason loved animals, especially his pet cats and German Shepherds.
Jason is survived by his parents, Toni and James Wills; brother John Lein; grandmother Margaret Wills; uncle Jack Wills; aunts Donna Wills, Tamara Teyema, and Elizabeth Teyema; nephew Cameron Lein; niece Audra Lein; as well as his cousins and many friends.
