Jeannette Barker's Obituary
Jeannette Barker, 95, of St. Helens, Oregon, passed away January 18, 2024, in Longview, WA.
She was born in St. Helens in 1928 to Victor and Nellie Oliver, the youngest of seven children, and lived her entire life in the area.
Jeannette graduated from St. Helens High School in 1945, and married her high school sweetheart, Charles (Chuck) Barker, in 1948. They had been married 63 years at the time of his death on November 7, 2011.
She worked throughout her life as a homemaker, a legal secretary, and as Columbia County Family Court clerk. Her love of family and a simple life in the country will be her lasting legacy. She also greatly enjoyed country music, travel, animals and finding humor in the everyday world.
Jeannette was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck Barker, and leaves behind three children, Vicki (Joe) Neveau, of Enterprise, OR; Thomas (Tracey) Barker of St. Helens, OR; Lori Barker of Creswell, OR; as well as eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was laid to rest at the Masonic Cemetery in St. Helens on February 3, 2024, during a small family graveside service.
