Jeannette L. Slocom's Obituary
Jeannette L. Slocom was born on November 27, 1935 in St. Helens, Oregon to Earl & Thelma Kromery Amick.
She died at a Portland hospital on May 10, 2010 at the age of 74.
Jeannette graduated from St. Helens High School in 1953 and graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelors degree in business in 1957.
She married Harold Scudder in 1962 and divorced in 1987. She married Kelsey Slocom, Jr. in 1995.
Jeannette lived in St. Helens for most of her life moving to Portland in 1994. While living in St. Helens she worked in MTC Training job placement, in Portland she worked in sales telemarketing for 2 years.
While living in St. Helens she was a member of First Lutheran Church and Plymouth Presbyterian Church. She was a member of AAUW American Association of University Women, NARFE National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Her enjoyments included cooking and cookbook collecting.
Survivors include: Husband: Kelsey Slocom, Jr. "Pete" of Portland; Sons: Roderick Scudder of St. Helens; Matthew Scudder of Gresham; Daughter: Jill Simmons of Hillsboro; 2 stepsons: Kelsey Slocom III; Andrew Slocom both of Portland; 7 grandchildren.
Memorial service: Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 12:00 Noon at 1st Lutheran Church-St. Helens.
Private Family Committal Service & Vault Interment: Old Yankton Cemetery-St. Helens.
