Jerry Milo Shinkle's Obituary
Jerry Milo Shinkle was born on October 9, 1936 in Fredonia, Kansas to William & Lois Morgan Shinkle.
He died in a Portland care facility on February 14, 2009 at the age of 72.
Jerry moved to Myrtle Point, Oregon at the age of 9, he graduated from Myrtle Point High School in 1955.
He went on to marry his High School sweetheart Sally Shields on July 1, 1955 in Bridge, Oregon.
Jerry enlisted in the Army in 1955 serving for 4 years. After the Army he worked for several mills throughout Oregon and Washington finally settling in Central Point, Oregon in 1974.
He worked for Sierra Pine Mill as Millwright and Maintenance Superintendant retiring in 2001.
Jerry's number one interest was getting together with family and friends which usually involved hunting, fishing and camping or watching his grandkids sporting events. His family remembers him as a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was especially fond of hi 3 great grandchildren and spending time with them. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tell stories especially about himself. He would be best described as a gentle man that was loved by all.
Survivors include: Wife: Sally Shinkle of Scappoose, OR.; Children: Lois Engel & her husband David of Medford, OR.; Jim Shinkle & his wife Annette of Columbia City, OR.; Mark Shinkle & his wife Luz of Allyn, WA.; Tom Shinkle & his wife Melony of Everett, WA.; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister Pauline Greer and his son J.D. Shinkle both in 2001.
