John F. Carlson's Obituary
John F. Carlson was born on December 23, 1921 in Virginia, Minnesota to John P. & Margaret Stever Carlson.
He died at a Portland hospital on November 1, 2009 at the age of 87.
After his education he went into the US Coast Guard from 1942 to 1946 during WWII. He moved to St. Helens in 1947 until present.
In September of 1963 he married Beula Jean W. Hinkle in Reno Nevada. She preceded him in death on July 30, 2009.
He worked as a machine tender at Boise for 42 years, retiring in 1986.
He was a member of the Lutheran denomination, the Elks, Moose, Demolay, Shriners and the Masons. His enjoyments included hunting, fishing, boating, camping, woodworking, golfing, socializing and telling jokes. He won multiple medals as a high school diving champion and a good conduct medal in WWII.
Survivors include: Daughter & Son-in-law: Jan Carlson & Paul Nyman of St. Helens; Son & daughter-in-law Jon & Kirstin Carlson of Sherwood, OR.; 2 grandsons: Cody & Conner.
