John R. Galloway's Obituary
John R. Galloway was born on May 16, 1935 in Fox, Alaska to James & Margaret Galloway.
He died at a Portland hospital on November 4, 2009 at the age of 74.
John's education and college was in the Army during Vietnam. He was in the Special Forces Green Berey Ranger Paratrooper. For 20 years he was a freelance photographer, retiring in 1995.
He married Elisabeth Hakkinen on June 7, 1978 in Haines, Alaska.
They lived in Portland on Hayden Island prior to moving to Scappoose 10 years ago.
His interests included: Sailing, boats, navigation, weather, stars, an avid reader, history, music, cooking and story telling.
Survivors include: Wife: Betsy Hakkinen Galloway of Scappoose: Betsy's brother & sister-in law: Fritz & Fran Hakkinen of Canby, Oregon.; nieces & nephews.
A wake will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. or to the Home of Special Operations Museum in Fayetteville, N.C.
