John Rascol's Obituary
John Rascol of Scappoose passed away in his sleep June18, 2009 at his home. He was 74.
John was born December 9. 1934 in Patrauti, Romania to Vasile and Eugenia Rascol. His father being a Pentecostal minister.
After moving to the United States in 1979, he and his wife Ica made their home in Scappoose. Together they attended the First Congregational Church and Warren Community Fellowship as well as being involved with many Romanian churches in the Portland area, where he would frequently recite poems and religious verses.
Loving photography, he spent nearly his entire professional career with cameras. For 25 years he owned and operated his camera shop on Glisan St. in Portland "Photo Kinon". During which he would also travel to many photography shows along the West Coast. He was a true testament that a handshake was just as good as any receipt; often remembering the exact camera he sold to previous customers decades earlier.
Fishing, literature, and poetry were also strong passions of his and he took much pride in sharing these experiences with all those around him, including nephews and nieces. John was kind and loving towards everyone he met, and will be greatly missed by the many whose lives he touched.
His wife Ica; brothers Vasile and Nick, and sisters; Lidia and Viorica, and many nephews and nieces including the Lupu family of Scappoose survive him.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday June 23, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Warren Community Fellowship in Warren, followed by a committal service and vault interment at Columbia Memorial Gardens in Scappoose.
