Joseph G. Hlavinka's Obituary
Joseph G. Hlavinka was born on April 13, 1927 in Scappoose, Oregon to Joseph J. & Frances Prokop Hlanvinka.
He died at a St. Helens nursing home on January 1, 2011 at the age of 83.
Joseph grew up in Scappoose, attended schools and lived all of his life there. He went into the Navy and was married to Doris for 26 years before divorcing.
He was a diesel mechanic for many years, retiring at the age of 58.
Joseph early on attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and was in the Knights of Columbus. He also was a member of the Moose Lodge.
His interests included: Fishing, hunting, making weights for fishing and smoking meats.
Survivors include: 4 children: Linda Petron of Gladstone; Nick & Don Hlavinka both of St. Helens; Jack Hlavinka of Scappoose; Sister: Mary Everet of Scappoose; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; Ex-Wife: Doris Hlavinka; preceded in death by son Joseph III.
Celebration of Life: Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Columbia Funeral Home.
Committal service & interment: Columbia Memorial Gardens Cemetery-Scappoose.
