To the Ernests,
I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. She was one in a million. I have so many fond memories of my time spent up at the farm. Your Mom was a gracious host and a wonderful cook. You always got the feeling there was always room for one more at the table. Both she and your Dad made me feel like I was the sixth kid.
She was indeed a hard worker....you all were. And when I came to visit, I loved the fact that I was put to work too. I remember milking cows, getting the "weebles" ? out of them with a pop bottle yuck, hauling irrigation pipes and of course, picking the berries. She always rewarded our work with a great meal and a smile for a job well done. Sitting around the dinner table, eating and laughing with all the Ernests, are simply unforgettable times that will stay with me forever.
My Mom is now 97, so I must forgive her for forgetting to tell me about your Mom. Had she told me one day sooner, I would have been at the memorial and would have so enjoyed seeing you all again. A sad reunion, but a reunion none the less.
My Mom still lives in the home we grew up in. She cant hear a thing and her eyes are pretty bad, but she is still very independent and mentally sound. I am out in Scappoose every Sunday and Monday to cook and help with things. She also says to send her sympathy and prayers.
I wish you all strength and courage to get thru this. She was a grand lady and left a legacy of wamth, kindness, hospitality and hard work. Truly, one of the "great" generation.
Love

Aunt Josie was the foundation of the Ernest family. She was one of the best aunts anyone could ever want. I will always remember the fun times we had on the farm with her and her family. She was the "queen" when it came to strawberries and worked so hard during harvest season. Whenever I went to her house she always made sure I had something to eat - she was a fantastic cook.
She loved her children and grandchildren so much and was so proud of each and every one of them. The world lost a wonderful person. I will miss her.

MOM, your service today at Willamette was wonderful--i am certain you enjoyed Vince Gill singing "Go Rest High upon that Mountain" just for you ! Jean made fantastic flower arrangements, of course. Mike Kurnutt spoke of you as though he'd known you all your life--he is Joyce & Lennie's former pastor at Sunset. Don't you like Linda's entry in your guestbook? Never will forget times hoeing strawberries with cousins Linda, Joyce, and all the others. Hard work we knew for sure, and I thank you MOM for giving us that firm foundation. See you Sat. at your beloved senior center and then we will have some fun celebrating you. Darin will be there at 11am to help setup--looking forward to seeing some relatives I've not seen since Dad left. You are missed so greatly Mother . . .##imported-begin##Janice Lynn##imported-end##
We have such fond memories of Josie! She always looked forward to family gatherings and brought her delicious pickles! Sledding at her house and "Hot Buttered Rums" afterwards. Always the gracious host "do ya wanna a beer" comes to mind. I'm so glad to have shared "Chocolated Dipped Strawberries" with her on her birthday, It was our last hug, and I will never forget it. Josi was one of a kind, and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with her family who loved her so much.
