To Josh's beloved family:

Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. There is nothing we can say that will bring you comfort. You will find it in the memories of your beautiful son, brother, friend, grandson, daddy and so on, but it will take time. He was much greater than this world could handle, not unlike so many young lives we have lost in our community.

If you need to vent to someone who understands the loss of a child, feel free to give us a call. We know you have lost two of your sons and that one gave the ultimate sacrifice for his country. I am sure that losing Josh was equally as devastating and may memories of both of your angels bring you much deserved peace.

To the family of Joshua:

I did not know Joshua, but his obituary caught my eye. I am always struck by the tragedy of losing someone so young. My wife and I have lost two sons my stepsons, but they were as my own, both related to addiction, The oldest was killed at the age of 30, the youngest died at 32 of an overdose in our home. I don't know the circumstances of Joshua's death, though the obit talked about battling his own demons and personal battles but our hearts go out to you. The pain of losing a child, though it may be the deepest pain a human being can feel, does ease with time. There are moments the pain comes back full force, but most days we have come to cherish the many good memories we had and know we were so blessed to have them in our lives. Mark, I don't know you personally, but I am Del Marie Burchardt's sister from IN. She had talked so highly of you, your wife and family. She loved you all. Yes, we lost our Mother on Nov. 12, 2010, but you have been through so much more grief, God only knows.
