Joy L. LaLande's Obituary
Joy Louise Lalande was born on July 14, 1939 in Spokane, Washington to Walter and Florence (Ellor) Schultz. She passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, December 14, 2013, surrounded by family and friends, after battling pancreatic cancer for over two years.
Joy married Bob Lalande on August 4, 1956 and they moved to Columbia City, Oregon in 1961. Then in 1963 the couple moved to Scappoose where Joy was employed as a cook for the Scappoose School District. She retired after 22 years of dedicated service.
She was an active member of the community and belonged to the garden club. Besides gardening, she enjoyed tole painting, ceramics, sewing, knitting, and cooking. Spending time with family, friends and all of the grand and great grandchildren was most important. It was a privilege to know Joy and experience her patience and love.
Joy is survived by her loving husband Bob of 57 years; three children: Jeanne, Bob and Jeffrey; sister, Gloria; brother, Wally; twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Columbia Funeral Home in St. Helens, Oregon. A reception will follow in the Community Building at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Scappoose.
