Jubel Dean Perkins' Obituary
Jubel Dean Perkins Sr. went home to be with our Creator on Thursday, October 17, 2013 after a valiant fight with Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Jubel was born in El Paso, Texas on October 13, 1960 to Jay Perkins and Delilah Segoviano. Jubel was raised in Klamath Falls, Oregon and graduated in 1978 from Klamath Union High. After High School, Jubel served 4 years as a U.S. Marine and went on to serve in the Reserve Officers Training Corp.
Jubel was proud of his Indian/Cowboy heritage and rode in many, many rodeos as a bull rider and saddle bronc rider for which he won many a buckle and lots of other awards and prizes.
Jubel was a hard worker and did many different jobs in his lifetime including oil rigs in Wyoming. He most recently became a Cultural Lead Assistant at NARA Northwest, Inc where he was employed over 13 years. He worked hand in hand with the NARA Director and NARA Cultural Director. He ran many sweat lodges for the clients. He also was a volunteer for the prison ministry in Oregon to Native Americans where he traveled to many prisons in Oregon to run sweats for the prisoners and to share hope, peace, and the word of our Creator. He also was a Board Member on several Native American programs in Oregon.
Jubel also did over 10 years of Sundance where he proudly Eagle Danced many times as well as being a Sundance brother and helper.
Jubel was an amazing man and totally devoted to his family. He was a husband, a father, a grandpa, a brother, an uncle, a father-in-law, a brother-in-law, a sun dance brother, and Jubel, well he was a best friend to all! He loved everyone and offered many spiritual uplifting words.
He is survived by his loving wife Kathy Perkins, Portland, Oregon, whom he married in 2011, his children Jubel Dean Perkins Jr married to Rayney of Phoenix, Arizona, Melinda Marie WhiteHorse and Melissa Perkins of Saint Helen's, Oregon, Misty Perkins with partner Nicholas Frink of Shelton, Washington, and Zachary Perkins, Sr married to Ashlee of Salem, Oregon.
He was a very proud and loving "Papa" to 15 grandchildren: NaTanee, NaKya, TaKoja, Zachary Jr., Bentley, Andre, Aaliyah, NoCona, Noble, Nellie, Shane, Nathan, Jubel Jr. III, Rain, and DayLynn.
He is also survived by his siblings, Jay Perkins Jr of Topeka, Kansas, Lisa Perkins White of Saint Helens, Oregon, Lyla Perkins Propps of Soldotna, Alaska, and Kevin Perkins of Lame Deer, Montana. Jubel is also survived by his dad Jay Perkins Sr and step mom Wanda Perkins of Klamath Falls, Oregon. There are lots and lots of other relatives and friends too numerous to mention and Jubel loved each one!
He is preceded in death by his grandmother Melinda Marie Masquat, his mother Delilah Segoviano, and baby sister Melinda Lee EagleHorse.
