Justin Alexander Schlaht May 19, 1991 ~ April 27, 2017
Justin Alexander Schlaht, age 25, sadly left this earth on April 27, 2017. He was born in Portland, Oregon on May 19, 1991 to Jayne and David Schlaht. After his father passed in 1992, his mother, Jayne, married Jim Sawyer with whom she raised Justin to be a bright and loving young man. During his time at St. Helens High School, Justin participated in Track and Field, and holds the record for Javelin. Since his time there was so precious to him, after graduating in 2009, Justin became a volunteer track and field coach, helping students succeed. During that time, he also attended Concordia University, and later Lower Columbia University.
In 2016, Justin earned the title of Employee of the Year at his company All Service Moving. This brought great joy to him and his family. When he wasn’t working, Justin was out enjoying nature in the form of hiking, bird watching, and many outdoor sports. He also continued to enjoy being an athlete and throwing Javelin, as well as being an artist. He was a young man of many talents.
Justin was proceeded in death by his father David Schlaht, his grandfathers; Ronald O’Banion, Jack Schlaht, and Kenneth Sawyer, and his grandmother Patricia Sawyer.
Justin is survived by his parents; Jayne and Jim Sawyer, grandmother; Lila O’Banion, siblings; Jacob Schlaht, Gabriel Schlaht, and Tanya Schlaht, as well as his cousins; Conner Long and Sophie Long; his nieces; Emma, Vanezza, and Samantha; aunts and uncles; Jay and Kay Ray (Wills Point, Texas), Chris and Ronda Long (Astoria, Oregon), Eric and Leslie Graves (Aloha, Oregon), Mike and Vicki Graves (Beaverton, Oregon), and Don and Cheryl Kalberer (St. Helens, Oregon), and numerous friends.
Services will be held at Columbia Funeral Home, 681 Columbia Blvd, St. Helens, Oregon on May 4, 2017 at 11: 00 am with a reception to follow.
