Obituary of Katherine "KAY" Angeline Pieper
A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, September 10th at the Masonic Cemetery in St. Helens, Oregon. Kay passed away August 17th at her home in St. Helens. She was 93.
Kay was born December 13th, 1916 in Broad Valley, Manitoba, Canada to John and Mary Talaga Kucharczyn, the eldest child of 4 children. She graduated high school and followed this with nursing school in Winnipeg Canada in 1939. She moved to Portland, Oregon the same year. In 1945 she moved to St. Helens where she worked as a Registered Nurse for the Columbia District Hospital until she retired in 1979 as a surgical nurse. She met her husband on a blind date in Portland and they were married in Vancouver, Washington, Wednesday, June 30th, 1943. He preceded her in death in 1988. From this marriage they had two daughters.
She was active in her community as a member of Plymouth Presbyterian Church and the St. Helens Garden Club. She was a life member of the Oregon Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc and also a member of the Valley Calligraphy Guild.
Kay is survived by her daughters; Leslie Ramsdell and husband Chuck of St. Helens, Kasha Denogeon and husband Ernie of Eugene, Oregon, grandchildren Lyle Ramsdell of Lake Oswego, Kelsey Denogeon of Portland, Marisa Bradley of San Francisco, CA, Nick Denogeon of Santa Monica, CA and a great grandson Raef Bradley. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph, Anthony and Andrew Kucharczyn.
