Kathleen Marie Lucas' Obituary
Kathleen Marie Heino Lucas was born November 18, 1951, in Seattle, Washington to Rudy and Patricia Heino. She grew up in Seattle and Kirkland, Washington with her parents and younger brother.
After graduating from Lake Washington High School in 1970, she met the love of her life, David Lucas. Kathy and David married in December of 1970. Kathy and David moved to Astoria, Oregon in July 1973, where they called home for 50 years and raised their two daughters, Amy and Anna.
When her children got older, Kathy attended Linfield University earning a B.S. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology in 1997. Kathy worked with and for low-income families for over 30 years. From May 1998 to June 2006 Kathy was the Family Programs Coordinator at Northwest Oregon Housing Authority. In 2006, Kathy became executive director at Clatsop County Housing Authority where she built a successful agency from nothing. She successfully wrote $3.5 million in grants and increased affordable housing from 45 units to 112 units in less than 5 years. The people and community of Clatsop County were important to her. Kathy retired in 2013 but remained an active board member with Clatsop Community Action. Kathy enjoyed sewing, baking, beading, and crafting with her 3 granddaughters.
Kathy passed September 27, 2023, and was preceded in death by her parents, Rudy and Pat Heino.
Kathy is survived by her soulmate David Lucas of Scappoose, Oregon; daughter Amy Lucas of Arizona; daughter Anna Nunn and husband Wayne (the favorite son-in-law) of Scappoose, Oregon; granddaughters Haillee Nunn of Vancouver, Washington; Hannah and Hailynn Nunn of Scappoose, Oregon; and their dogs Maizy and Otto.
Kathy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and an active member in her community.
She will be missed, but forever in our hearts.
