Kirby Ray McCoy's Obituary
Lifelong local resident Kirby Ray McCoy, 58, of Kelso passed away Jan. 31, 2010, at St. John Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 1, 1952, in Longview, to Chester and Hazel Ridenour McCoy and graduated with the Kelso High School Class of 1970.
Mr. McCoy retired from construction as a member of Laborers' International Union of North America. He enjoyed community service and was an avid sports fan, especially baseball. He raised money towards "The Kage" and new facilities at the Tam O' Shanter Park field. Mr. McCoy was a former youth coach. He was caring, compassionate and loved his large family. He was loyal, witty and always willing to help others.
He married Judy K. Tipton Dec. 12, 1980, in Reno. She survives him at home. Also surviving are three brothers, Jack McCoy and Ron Cindi McCoy, both of Longview, and Darwin Sally McCoy of Eugene; four sisters, Dixie Jay Wyllie and Tracy Kelly Underberg, both of Gresham, Ore., Donna Larry Richards of Eugene, and Diane Jan Searing of Longview; two sons, Brian Marci McCoy and Matthew McCoy, both of Kelso; a daughter, Katelyn McCoy of Portland; and two grandchildren, Ellia and Clare McCoy, both of Kelso.
Mr. McCoy was preceded in death by his father, Chester McCoy; and his mother and stepfather, Lee and Hazel Mattson.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Feb. 13 at the Cowlitz County Conference Center, 1900 7th Ave., in Longview.
