Theresa,
Larry was my big brother, that how I always referred to him whenever anyone asked. I will always remember him as the person that would tell me 'you can do it, just don’t give up'. You know what he was right I could do it.
I will never forget his smile, his words of wisdom and opinions, and his love for you. I believe that Larry was the happiest in the time he spent with you at the ‘ranch’. He called it his little piece of heaven.
Mike…
Theresa,
Larry was really a great guy, he loved his children and you very much, he always gave Mike a bad time in that Silva way If we needed him for anything he would be there for us. He always greeted me with hey beautiful and that always made me smile. The big flirt….
Patty
We will miss him very much.

Larry Silva scared me when I first saw him. He was big, broad of
shoulder and large boned, and his hair and beard were slightly
overwhelming. I say he scared me at first glance but that ended
IMMEDIATELY when he smiled. Oh what a smile Larry had. Even better than his grin was his laughter which seemed to pour out from someplace real within him.
We had the opportunity to be neighbors to Larry and Theresa in
Portland. Some seriously rough times came to us as we lived across the street. My husband almost died a number of times. Each and any time that we needed Larry and Theresa's help they were there NO QUESTIONS ASKED they were completely there for us!
My husband Nyle and Larry had ever so much fun for several years. When Christmas came they would compete against each other to see who could decorate the best with Christmas lights. What a festive place our little corner of heaven was on those Christmases so long ago.
I am making myself a vow right now that for every holiday left in my
life I will celebrate Larry Silva, and what a terrific, loyal friend he was, and the zest he had for life, even in it's more difficult times.
Lots of love, CJ Smith##imported-begin##CJ Smith##imported-end##
My best memories of dad:
Hunting Bee's:
One time dad and I went bow hunting in Springfield, OR. We went out and found a nice ridge over looking a small valley. We split up and went out to see what we could find. About 10 minutes later I came to a clearing I looked over and saw Dad about 100 yards off to my right. He saw me then waved, and then we both started settling to wait out any game. Well dad decided to sit down on a near by stump. As soon as he did he jumped up started dancing around, then started running back to the road. It was the fastest I had ever seen him move. When we got to the road and met up I had found out that he had sit on a bee's nest, I don't think I laughed so hard.
Working on the truck:
Dad and I spent a lot of time working on mom's S10 not that she remembers, and every time we would have left over nuts and bolts. Well one time I asked dad, "Why do we always have so many left over nuts and bolts?" he told me " Don't worry, if there was not left over nuts and bolts then we would of done it wrong." Sure enough we never had any problems. He showed me how to change the oil filter, spark plugs, the clutch, the transmission and how to take out the drive shaft to get to the transmission. Every time we would have left over parts, but one time when we changed out the clutch we did not have any left over nuts and bolts, so that worried us. So when mom went to start the truck up there was a loud bang and a small explosion. It turned out we put the clutch in backwards, and when mom started the truck it blew. So from that day forward, I always made sure to check things again if there were no left over nuts and bolts.
Cat in my room,
One night I decided to sneak a girl into my room, well we were not so quite and Larry came in. I had just got the covers over her when he opened the door. He asked me "Who is in there with you?" I told him" The cat" he then replied by saying, "Tell the cat she needs to go home and make sure not the wake your mom on the way out."
Thinking back:
Looking back now I realized that Larry was a wonderful Dad to me, and I did not realize that in till recently. Now that dad has moved on I have realized what the man meant to me. he was a father, a friend and one of the best men I ever knew. I will never forget you dad and look forward to see you in heaven. I know you will be up there leaning on the back of a perfectly good lazy boy, drinking Pepsi and watching a good western. So dad keep a Pepsi cold for me, and a good set I will see you when I get there.##imported-begin##Paul Opie##imported-end##
My dad was the sweatest most gentlest soul i have ever met. He was alway there for me no matter what. He was and will always be my best friend. I love him dearly. I will make sure my daughter Jessey knows all the wonderfull stories about her papa. She to loved him and loved to tease him.##imported-begin##Jamie Silva Eichel##imported-end##

Theresa,
Larry was a joyful, fun loving brother, and you and he had a wonderful time building memories together. We are sure the stories will be told and the laughter will fill the room as everyone remembers and celebrates his life. It was varied and full, and we know you two were blessed to find each other.
Larry was so proud of the life you two made together and of his and your children. Family was very important to Larry, and it showed in how he would drop everything if he had any idea that a friend or family member needed anything.
As I said, whenever I tell the story of how we got through last April and going through Mom's things, you, Larry, Jamie and JD are the center point of that story because without your daily help from sunrise to sunset to sunrise again, doing all the heavy lifting and heavy haulting, the job would still be there to do. Some people just give lip service, but you truly demonstrated with your joyful hearts and the sweat of your brow, how family reaccts, supports and pulls together to help each other.
We pray the Lord will be your strength and comfort as you walk this path.
As it is, Larry, Mom and Dad are up there ribbing each other and swapping tales! You can bet that the good Lord has his hands full now!
We will all miss you, Larry.
Love,
