LaVern James Norvald's Obituary
LaVern James Norvald, 85, of Scappoose, Oregon, passed away on December 30, 2022. He was born on November 15, 1937, to his parents Harland and Gladys.
LaVern was born in North Dakota and moved to Oregon in 1959. He first lived in Portland before moving to Scappoose. He worked at Freightliner, where he built semi-trucks. That knowledge and passion for vehicles translated into his personal life, too. He worked on several cars during his lifetime, but especially loved his 1956 Ford pickup that he rebuilt.
Perhaps LaVern’s favorite hobby outside of working on cars was camping. Taking his family to Rockaway Beach or Lost Lake is a pastime that was well-loved by him and his family, especially all the kids and grandkids.
LaVern is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Ann; his four sons, Dan, Randy, Douglas, and Curtis; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and three brothers.
