Lawrence E. Johnson's Obituary
Lawrence E. ''Larry'' Johnson was born on June 18, 1923 in Warren, OR. to Charles & Matilda Carlson Johnson.
He died at a Portland hospital on April 12, 2005 at the age of 81.
He graduated from Scappoose Hi in 1940, received a BA of Ed. & M Agr. degrees from OSU, also graduated from Pacific Coast Banking School in Seattle, WA. He was a longtime V.P. for 1st Interstate Bank, retiring as the Hillsboro area branch manager in 1988.
He was in the Army during WWII in the Phillipines and Japan.
He married a lifelong friend, Esther Nasman on December 21, 1946 in Warren, OR., They have lived in St. Helens, Corvallis, Hillsboro, Tigard, Springfield and Roseburg since July of 2004.
He was a member of the Lutheran church in each community where they lived. He actively involved in many church & community activities, including President of Rotary and a Paul Harris Fellow, Chairman of Tuality Community Hospital Board of Directors, Chairman of the Tigard School Board and Mayor of Hillsboro from '76-'80. He enjoyed golfing and woodworking.
Survivors include: Wife: Esther Johnson of Roseburg, OR.; Daughter & Son-in-law: Shirlee & David Finlay of Roseburg, OR.; Son: Stanley Johnson of Fairfield, Connecticut; sister: Selma Lucke of Hendersonville, N. Carolina; 5 grandchildren 1 great-granddaughter.
