Lee Allen Broadbent's Obituary
Lee Allen Broadbent, 65, of St. Helens passed away at his home on September 9, 2007. He was born April 4, 1942 in Beloit, Kansas to Ned William and Beatrice Lorraine Porter Broadbent.
Lee has been a resident of St. Helens for the past 51 years, moving here in 1956. He graduated from St. Helens High School, class of 1960. He was married May 11, 1974 in Columbia City, Oregon to Tina Parrent.
Lee was a firefighter, beginning his career as a volunteer in 1960, he was then hired in 1963 as a career firefighter. Lee retired in 1985 as Assistant Fire Chief. He served on the fire district board of directors for 24 years and the initial board of directors for Columbia 911 communications district. He is honored with the Lee Broadbent fire department training center. He was firefighter of the year in 1983. He was honorary member of the Columbia County Firefighters Association and the St. Helens Firefighters Association. He was past member of the Columbia County Fire defense board. He was a member of the Rescue 7 committee to fund purchase of the first rescue vehicle in Columbia County. He was a youth soccer coach, 4H leader, avid hunter and fisherman and very active with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Columbia City Foursquare Church.
Lee is survived by his wife Tina Broadbent, his brother Tom Broadbent, his son Matthew Broadbent and Courtney Ralston, daughter; Michelle and her husband Craig Millar, granddaughters; Tiarra Broadbent and Christina Broadbent, grandsons; Blake Millar and Tyson Broadbent. He is also survived by special friends; Henry & Pam Hiemueller and Thad & Vonnie Houk along with several nieces, nephew, and cousins.
Funeral services will be Thursday, September 13, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Warren Community Fellowship with committal services at Columbia Memorial Gardens. Contributions may be given to Longview Hospice.
