Lelah Alberta Nelson's Obituary
Lelah Alberta Nelson was born on March 23, 1921 in Winslow, Arkansas to Rufus & Rose Reed Pense.
She died at her home in St. Helens on January 4, 2012 at the age of 90.
Lelah attended school thru the 8th grade in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. She married Ulys Red Asher which ended in divorce; and in 1943 she moved to St. Helens. Later she met Nels Nelson, and they were married in 1946. They were best friends and very devoted to their family. Nels preceded her in death in 1982.
Lelah was a proud homemaker who enjoyed quilting, gardening, fishing, and feeding & watching the birds.
Survivors include: Son, Clifford Nelson of St. Helens, Daughter, Sue Wilson of Hammond, OR., Daughter, Karen Miller of Graham, WA., and Step-Daughter, Betty Leichty of Springfield, OR.; 20 Grandchildren and many Great & Great-Great Grandchildren. Preceded in death by a daughter: Donna LaRiviere in '72, Grandchild-Jessie Wilson and all of her Siblings.
Viewing & Visitation 9-5 Tuesday & Funeral Service: Wednesday, 1/11/2012 at 1:00 PM both at Columbia Funeral Home, Committal service & interment: Yankton Hillcrest Cemetery.
