Linda Brissett Johnson
Mar. 16, 1955 – Apr. 7, 2014
Linda passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Portland on Mar. 16, 1955 and lived in St. Johns most of her life. In 1993 she and her husband built a house in the hills of Scappoose, which they designed. She loved the solitude, trees, deer and elk.
Linda worked for 30 years for the city of Portland, starting out as a stenographer clerk. She landed a job at the Maintenance Bureau in 1986 and decided to change her career path, becoming one of the first female utility workers. She held several positions and in 2000 became a public works supervisor. She later transferred to the Bureau of Parks & Recreation and retired in 2012.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and traveling with her husband, especially trips to Napili Bay, Maui, Hawaii. She is preceded in death by her Mother, Dorothy “Babe” Gensman, her Father, Robert Dean Brissett and sister Carol Jane Brissett. Survivors include her husband Randy Johnson, who she married in 1978; sister Susan Halloran; sister Karen Brissett Roberts; her children Melissa Johnson and Brian Johnson; grandsons Brendan Berger and Porter Johnson; nephew Tony Halloran; nieces Erika Halloran and April Caldwell and brother-in-law Joel Halloran.
Visitation will be from 9am – 5pm on Monday, April 14, 2014.
A Funeral Service at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at the Columbia Funeral Home. Interment will be at Columbia Memorial Gardens in Scappoose.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Columbia County Food Bank.
