Lonnie Collie, 85 years old, of Scappoose, Oregon passed away on June 17, 2017 in Portland, Oregon.
A private Memorial Service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon on Friday, July 14, 2017.
Lonnie was born in Alanreed, Texas to John and Euva Collie on January 22, 1932. They moved to Hood River, Oregon when Lonnie was eleven years old.
Lonnie had a passion for sports growing up. He graduated from Mosier High school in 1949. He joined the US Airforce in 1950 and served four years. Lonnie married Betty Cary and they had two children, Gary and Gail. They moved from Hood River to Portland in 1958 and then to Scappoose in 1966. Lonnie’s career consisted of railroad inspection and bidding on railroad tracks. After retiring from L.B. Foster Rail Products, Lonnie focused on farming and raising chickens. In his later life, Lonnie lived in Idaho but recently moved back to Scappoose, Oregon in 2015. He spent most of his time socializing and dancing at the senior centers.
Lon is preceded in death by parents John and Euva Collie, sister Lily Smith, and son Gary Collie.
Lon is survived by daughter Gail Klobes, son-in-law Charles Klobes, daughter-in-law Carolyn Collie, sister Goldie Howard, brothers Junious and Colonel Collie, grandchildren Jenna Collie, Jaime Redwine (Mike), Jaicilynn Merrigan (Kevin), Dakota Klobes, Kyle Collie (Julie), Karly Boss (Wade), and Carson Collie, and 10 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to Scappoose Senior Center.
