Lorabelle Farah's Obituary
January 12, 1927-May 14, 2024, Lorabelle (Reed) Farah, 97 years, passed away in St. Helens,
Oregon. A service will be held on June 1, 2024, at 1:00 o’clock at Christian Church of St.
Helens in St. Helens.
Lorabelle was the youngest of six children born to Marion and Carrie Reed. She grew up in SE
Portland, and attended Joseph Lane Grade School and Franklin High School. On March
23rd,1946, she married Mitchell Farah and together they raised three girls in southwest
Portland. Sadly, Mitch passed away in 1964 at the young age of 41. At that time Lorabelle went
to work as a secretary at Portland Community College in order to provide for her family. She
always liked working and enjoyed the people she worked with. In later years she worked for
Pacific NW Bell in downtown Portland, where she loved to take walks during her lunch hour.
Lorabelle was very proud of climbing Mt. Hood and became a member of the Mazamas at the
age of 48. She retired in 1992 and stayed active with Zumba, her Wednesday hiking group,
bridge, Bible study, swimming, sewing, knitting, and cooking. Lorabelle was a strong believer
and attended Evergreen Presbyterian Church for many years until her health prevented her
from participating in worship.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Barbara Blake (Bill) who passed away in
September of 2022 and survived by her two daughters Shirley Kelly (Clint) and Sue Porter
(Mark). In addition she leaves behind 8 grandchildren, Brian Knapp (Lee Anne), Julie Ulrich
(Tom), Kelly Blake (D.J.), Kari Templin (Jesse), Paul Blake (Stephanie), Josh Gearheart (Ali),
Jessica Fuller (Tom), and Megan Carlson (Josiah), 9 great-grandchildren, Samantha, Kyle,
Andy, Taylor, Owen, Robby, Matthew, Finn, Elodie, and 2 great great-grandchildren, Leo and
Sophia. Lorabelle was a kind, caring, and thoughtful woman and will be missed by those who
knew her.
