Lorna Adele Bradley's Obituary
Lorna Adele Bradley was born to Russell and Daria White on September 1, 1935 in St. Helens, Oregon, and passed away on October 25, 2024.
Lorna attended St. Helens schools, graduating with the class of 1953. She went on to a career in Nursing following her graduation from the Good Samaritan School of Nursing in 1956. Lorna was married to Ray Bradley in the Congregational Church in St. Helens on October 20, 1956 and began her nursing career at the then Columbia Hospital District's new, 36 bed hospital in St Helens. Lorna and Ray brought two sons in to their lives, Mike in 1959, and Doug in 1964. They spent the remainder of their lives dedicated to their two children and their families. In 1975, after a lot of thought and reservation, Lorna accepted a newly created District Nurse position with the St. Helens School District. Lorna and the newly created position grew together until her retirement in 1994. Lorna’s work in the school district led to many new friendships and connections to the St. Helens community, many of which lasted the remainder of her life.
Upon retirement Lorna and Ray did some “bucket list” traveling but ultimately found that they were happiest at home with family and friends. They could be found at any event that their grandchildren were participating in. Lorna never let a birthday go by without baking a cake or a holiday dinner without rolls.
Following Ray’s sudden passing in 2004, Lorna remained determined to carry on and that she did. She filled her days with family, church, quilting, trips with her sister Melody, lifetime friend Janet Adams, and many others. Lorna had a special relationship with each of her grandchildren and shared her love with all of them.
Lorna is survived by her sons Mike (Kristi) and Doug (Sherri); grandchildren Mikka (Michael), Andi, Kelsey (Eric), and Jared; great grandchildren Raygan, Kenslee, Hudson, Everett, twins Mason and Maverick; sister Melody and family. She was preceded in death by her parents Russell and Daria White, as well as her husband Ray.
A memorial service will be held at Plymouth Presbyterian Church (2615 Sykes Rd.) in St. Helens on Saturday November 16, 2024 at 1:00pm with a reception following.
