Lorraine A. Andrehsen's Obituary
Lorraine A. Andrehsen was born on September 19, 1920 in McLaughlin, South Dakota to Gilbert & Pauline Schmeichel Majhor.
She died at a St. Helens assisted living center on August 22, 2009 at the age of 88.
Lorraine was one of 13 children, 6 boys and 7 girls. She attended school in McLaughlin until she was 17 when she moved with her family to Scappoose in 1938. They lived in a tent with a cookstove for the first year. She attended Scappoose High School where she met her husband-to-be, Bernard Andrehsen. After they graduated Lorraine worked in the grade school office. They were married in June 30, 1941, they resided in St. Helens for a short time then moved to Scappoose. Ben served in the Army and was deployed to Japan, during this time she lived with her parents in Portland. When her returned in 1946 they purchased a small farm in Warren where they raised 5 children and Lorraine was a homemaker. Ben preceded her in death in 1985 and she remained on the farm for about another 7 years when she moved to Avamere.
She loved family get togethers, her indian heritage, horses, cats, sewing, traveling, gardening and reading.
Survivors include: Children: Steven Andrehsen of St. Helens; David Andrehsen of Warren; Bonnie Andrehsen & Arlene Marshall both of Vancouver, WA.; Alice Stonebrook of Warren; Siblings: Cliff Majhor of Portland; Bob Majhor of Hillsboro; Francine Ropkins of Salem; June Johnson of Sherwood; Vi O'Connor of Rhode Island; 15 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren.
Viewing & Visitation: 9-5 Tuesday at Columbia Funeral Home
Mass of Christian Burial: Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 11:00 AM at St. Frederic Catholic Church
Committal service & vault interment: Columbia Memorial Gardens Cemetery-Scappoose, OR.
