Lucille C. Crandall-Coughlin's Obituary
Lucille Crandall-Coughlin of St. Helens, Oregon passed away on July 15, 2023, at the age of 94.
Lucille was born on October 2, 1928, in Yankton (St. Helens), Oregon to her parents Martin and Manda Murgic. She grew up on the family farm, homesteaded by her father who came from Croatia in 1913, along with her brother, John and sisters Matilda (Tillie), Mary and Joanne.
She attended grade school in Columbia City, and graduated from St. Helens Sr. High School, and later married Paul Crandall on September 23, 1950.
She was a member of St. Frederic Catholic Church.
Lucille had a zest for life and was not one to sit idle. She enjoyed fishing on the Columbia River, digging razor clams on the coast and enjoying the bounty with her family. She was a wonderful cook and loved having her family join her for family dinners. Fried chicken was her specialty, and the more the merrier!
She loved to knit and crochet, and all of her family have been blessed with a handmade treasure from her.
She enjoyed playing cards and board games and would rarely miss a Pinochle game at the Senior Center either in St. Helens or Scappoose!
She was known by many as “Gram” and later endearingly was given the name GG by her great grandchildren who gave her so much happiness. She cherished each one of them with all her heart and soul.
Lucille is survived by her son Rick (Cindy) Crandall and her daughter Linda (Tony) Spears, her two grandchildren Jeremy (Alanna) Crandall and Lyndsey (Jesse) Slick, four great grandchildren, Barrett and Gabby Crandall and Samuel and Nathaniel Slick. She is also survived by her sisters Mary Setvin, and Joanne Shipman.
Her sense of humor, love, and gentle touch will be deeply missed.
