Mabel McQueen Dahlgren's Obituary
Mabel McQueen Dahlgren, 96, died peacefully September 9, 2007. She is fondly remembered by the staff at Dungeness Courte Alzheimer's Community in Sequim, Washington for her humor and spunk.
Mabel was born in Arnegard, North Dakota to Albert and Emma Stenehjem on February 22, 1911. She moved to Camas, Washington in 1930 amd was , married to George Judd McQueen in 1933. They moved to Pullman, Washington where Judd earned a degree in Veterinary Medicine at W.S.U. and Mabel worked at the Student Bookstore. While Judd was serving in China in WW II, she move backed to Camas to raise their two children.
At war's end, they moved to Warren, Oregon where they lived until Judd's death in 1952. She married Samuel Dahlgren in 1959 and they enjoyed a wonderful life together until his death in 1978. Mabel worked for 25 years as a cook at Warren Grade School and she enjoyed life-long friendships with many former staff and students.
She lived at Cornell Estates in Hillsboro, Oregon from 1990 until 2004. Over her adult years she was an active member of Behtany Lutheran Church in Warren and Reformation Lutheran Church in Hillsboro.
She survived by daughter Nancy Schneider ans son-in-law Dick of Port Ludlow, Washington, George McQueen and daughter-in-law Dianna of Portland, Oregon, 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held for Mabel October 20, 2007 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Warren at 2:00pm. Memorials in her name may be given to Bethany Lutheran Church.
