Margie Mae Wiensz passed away peacefully in Scappoose, Oregon on February 24, 2016 at the age of 92. Margie was born on September 27, 1923 in Bogue, Kansas to Eldon and Mary (Anderson) Loe.
In 1940, she married Norman Lanier and together they had Sandra, sadly she became a widow that same year. She then married Arthur Matteson and had three children Arthur, Gayle and Jim. She then married Pete Wiensz and they had Shane Wiensz together. They were together until he passed away in 1993.
Margie was an ice cream maker at Jewell ice cream, for over 30 years, she was also a homemaker who loved spending time with her children. Margie found joy in gardening, sewing, reading, and hunting down a good garage sale.
Margie was a very special woman who saw the light in everyone she met. You could always find her smiling, and with an uplifting attitude. She found something good in everyone, and because of her unconditional love she always put others before herself.
Margie is survived by her daughters Sandra Morilon, Gayle Ray, her son Arthur Matteson, her sister Betty McDonald and her brother Mike Bair. She also is survived by her 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Pete Wiensz, her brothers Sonny Loe and Stanley Bair, her sons Jim Matteson, Shane Wiensz and grandson Jimmy Matteson.
A Celebration of Life for Margie Wiensz will be held on Friday, March 4, 2016 at 3:00pm at Caple’s House in Columbia City, Oregon.
