Marguerite E. Holste's Obituary
Marguerite E. Holste was born on November 18, 1916 in Eugene, OR.
She died at her home in Deer Island on August 18, 2004 at the age of 87.
She moved to Portland as an infant, her maiden name was Bonofiglio, she married Alvin Holste on 2/8/41.
She graduated from Commerce Hi School, also attended Behnke Walker Business College and Hastings Business School.
During WWII she worked for the Army Air Force as a bookkeeper as well as the Oregonian. After the war she was employed by the State Department of Veteran Affairs. She also was a service manager for Maydwell and Hartzell, an electrical District and an office manager for Sumaron Enterprises, an advertsing agency for 23 years. She was food editor for the Beaverton Valley Times. She also worked for both the YMCA and YWCA in the camping dept for children for several years.
She had many hobbies including sewing, crafts, flower gardening and gourmet cooking, dancing and an avid bowler.
Survivors include: Husband: Alvin Holste of Deer Island; Daughter-in-law: Janis Holste and grandson
Scott Holste. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing & Visitation: 9-5 Monday at Columbia Funeral Home
Funeral Mass: Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at 11:00 AM at St. Frederic Catholic Church-St. Helens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Columbia Co. Humane Society.
