Maria Gilberta Escobar's Obituary
Maria Gilberta Escobar, 82 years old, of Scappoose, Oregon passed away on December 6, 2023. She was born on July 2, 1941, in Azores, Portugal.
Maria grew up in Portugal and first came to the United States as a young adult, ending up in Taunton, Massechusetts. There, she met and married her husband, Manuel Escobar. Together, they moved to San Jose, California, where they had their two children and from there, they moved to Roseburg, Oregon. After their family had been raised there, they came to settle in Scappoose, Oregon, where they have resided ever since.
Maria loved to sew and go to the beach. Her favorite destination was the Nehalem area and Manzanita beach. She was a member or St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
Maria is survived by her husband, Manuel; her children, Joann and Manny; her grandchildren, Mathew, Ashley, Camren, and Jake; six great-grandchildren; and her two sisters, Lois and Ilda.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joao and Anna; and her two brothers and three sisters.
A memorial service will be held for Maria on January 20, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Scappoose, Oregon.
