Marlea LaRay Leffler's Obituary
Marlea was born in Shelton, Nebraska, on March 24, 1933 to John and Lula Vohland Bishop. Marlea died at her home in Warren on July 4, 2006 at the age of 73.
As a young girl she moved with her family to Dundee, Oregon where she attended grade school. She graduated from Newberg High School, and in 1950 married Irvin Leffler at the Newberg First Methodist Church. As a young couple they moved to Vernonia where they raised their two daughters.
The family moved to Scappoose where they owned and operated the Scappoose Flying Service at the Scappoose Airport for many years. Their marriage ended in divorce and Marlea moved to St. Helens and began working in the Tech Industry writing techinical manuals, policies and procedures for fiber optics. She was very adept at her trade and still worked occassionally even during her chemo therapy.
Gardening and spending time with the grandchildren were very important to Marlea.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Colleen Yates. She is survived by her daughter, Lawayne McCann and husband, Lonnie of Vancouver, Washington and daughter, Sally Caniparoli and husband, Dave of Warren, Oregon; brother, Dick Bishop and sister, Adriene Bishop both of Newberg, Oregon; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, and special companion, Homer Stewart of St. Helens.
Funeral Mass will be Monday, July 10 at 2:30 PM at St. Frederic Catholic Church in St. Helens, Oregon. Recisitation of the Rosary will be Sunday, July 9 at 7:00 PM also at the church.
