A beloved teacher is gone. Miss Marsha Martin passed away November 5, 2007 due to complications from ovarian cancer and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
Marsha was born May 16, 1973 to Cecil G. and Savannah Slay Martin in Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from Romulus Sr. High in 1960 and received her BA from Western Michigan University in 1964 majoring in English and Psychology. In 1965 she moved with her sister, Vivian, to California. Where she taught until moving to Longview, Washington, in 1970. She retired in 2000 after 30 years teaching English and Social Studies. During that time Marsha recieved her Masters Degree in Education. She loved teaching and will be remembered as a great educator. She was known for her great sense of humor, intellect, and most of all her love for friends and family.
A sister; Vivian Reinholdt, 3 nieces; Brandi Hanson, Shelbe Sundeen, and Shannon Schrader, 2 nephews; Derek Reinholdt and Curtis Martin survive her. Great nephews; Kirk Reinholdt, Alex Martin, Zach Hanson and Andrew Sundeen, and great nieces; Amanda Martin, McKenna Schrader, Ashlee Hanson, Madison Sundeen, Kylie Reiholdt, and Kenna Reinholdt also survive her.
Marsha was preceded in death by her father Cecil, her mother Savannah, and brother Rodney Martin.
Viewing and visitation will be held on Friday, November 09, 2007 at Columbia Funeral Home in St. Helens, Oregon from 11:00 am ? 6:00 pm. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at Columbia Funeral Home ~ 681 Columbia Blvd. St. Helens, Oregon 97051.
