Mary Constance Cooke
March 2, 1921 ~ December 4, 2015
Mary C. Cooke, 94, St. Helens, Oregon passed away on December 4, 2015 at Avamere.
The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 with Rosary at 10:30 AM followed by Memorial Mass at St. Frederic’s Catholic Church in St. Helens.
Mary was born in Middletown, Connecticut on March 2, 1921. She was the third of six children of Serafino and Josephine Lentini Blanco. Mary married George William Cooke on November 14, 1953; they were married twenty-four years until his death in 1978.
Mary was a traditional homemaker who prided herself on taking care of her husband and three children. She loved to cook, and proudly taught her daughter the tradition of making the Italian food her mother taught her to make. In her later years, she loved nothing more than to play bingo with her friends. She was devout Catholic whose faith was very important to her, a value she passed on to her children.
Mary is survived by her daughter, MaryJane (Paul) Emmons of Scappoose, Oregon, her grandson Zachary and her step-children Wayne (Elaine) Cooke, Sandra (David) Smith, and Sammy (Cynthia) Cooke all of Union, South Carolina. She is also survived by her brother John Blanco and his wife Judy of Ida Grove, Iowa, her brother Angelo Blanco and sister Jane Blanco of Connecticut as well as numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mary was preceded in death by her spouse, George, her sons Steven and David, her brothers Joseph (Irene) and Louie Blanco.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital Comfort Care or to Legacy Hospice Care. The family of MaryJane Emmons wishes to thank Good Samaritan Hospital-Portland, Avamere Memory Care and Legacy Medical Center Hospice for their support at this difficult time.
