Mary Joyce Lawrence's Obituary
Mary Semling Lawrence of St. Helens passed away July 3, 2009. She was 76.
Mary Gallia was born September 26, 1932, in Wallis, Texas to Randolph and Elizabeth Gallia.
She was educated at Warren Grade School and graduated in 1950 from Scappoose High School.
In 1953 she married Eivand L. "Spike" Semling. He preceded her in death in 1964.
In 1988, her and Arbie Lawrence were married.
A member of St. Frederic Catholic Church in St. Helens, she participated in many activities there.
For many years she owned and operated the St. Helens Golf Course. She loved to cook at the golf course, and was involved in the preparation and cooking at many functions and fundraisers at St. Frederic's Church and family events.
She is survived by her husband, Arbie Lawrence of St. Helens; sons, David Semling of Scappoose, Mark Semling of St. Helens, and Gary Semling of San Rafael, California; stepchildren, Judy Cox of Kenai, Alaska, Scott Lawrence of Portland, David Lawrence of Columbia City, and Richard Lawrence of St. Helens; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and her sister Josie Burdick of Vancouver, Washington.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday July 10, 2009 at St. Frederic Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Frederic Catholic Church or Columbia Pacific Food Bank.
