Mary Agnes Marcinko's Obituary
Mary Bachmann Lynch Marcinko, beloved Mom and Granny, left us to be with The Lord on Friday April 4, 2014, 2 months and 5 days shy of her 102nd birthday.
Mary was born in Mist, Oregon on June 9, 1912, the year women were given the right to vote. She was the youngest of 4 daughters born to John and Maude Bachmann. Her youth was one of great challenges which ultimately served to develop in her an appreciation of life's riches and a lifetime of gratitude.
In 1931, Mary married Lloyd Lynch. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Dorothy and Velma. They raised their girls in Scappoose and during those years Mary was active in PTA, Toastmasters and 4-H, where she loved to teach the youngsters the skills of canning. She served as clerk on the school board, helped on the family farm and always had arts and crafts projects going such as gardening, crocheting, painting, embroidering and other such hobbies.
Mary loved wildlife and over the course of her life she would have two very unusual pets; a bear named Maggie and a roadrunner named Charlie. She loved craw fishing and was also an avid clam digger and may have been known to exceed her limit once or twice. In her 80's she could still be found on the beach digging away.
Mary became a devout Christian and in her lifetime she would bring countless people to The Lord and would tell anyone who would listen of the love of Jesus. It became her life's work to share that faith.
In 1982 Mary married Jim Marcinko and they resided between Columbia City, Oregon and Thousand Palms, California until Jim's passing in 2001. Mary shared in Jim's love of birds and they always had a myriad of feeders and houses for their little feathered friends.
Mary was blessed with 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren and they were all the joy of her heart.
She left us all, family and friends alike, with the greatest gifts; her unconditional love and with the knowledge that she was overjoyed to be going home to be with her Lord. She is free and light and dancing with the angels.
