Mary R. Mares' Obituary
Mary R. Mares was born on January 28, 1920 in Scappoose, Oregon to Matt & Josephine (Hlavinka) Hobizal.
She died at Spring Meadows Assisted Living in St. Helens on February 27, 2014 at the age of 94.
Mary attended and graduated from Scappoose High School in 1938. In 1941 she married Leslie Mares in Scappoose where she was a homemaker and lived all of her life.
She was a member and served on the alter society of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Her interests included baking, cooking, fishing, and gardening.
Survivors include: 3 Sons: Robert Mares (Laurie) of Warren; Rich Mares (Gerry) & Ron Mares (Bonnie) all of Scappoose. 8 Grandchildren; 15 Great-Grandchildren; 3 Great-Great Grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, parents, several siblings, and a granddaughter Linda in 1990.
Recitation of The Rosary: 10:30 AM & Funeral Mass: 11:00 AM Friday, March 7, 2014 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church-Scappoose with committal service & vault interment to follow at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery.
