Mary Ruth Welter's Obituary
Mary Ruth Welter, age 83 was born in Seattle, Washington on May 8, 1930 to Charles and Regina (Jean) Clegg.
When Mary was 7 her family moved to the St. Helens area. She was a 1948 graduate of St. Helens High School. She met Lee Welter, they fell in love, and were married on January 15, 1952.
She was a member of the St. Frederic Catholic Church. She loved spending time with family and friends especially at the Welter river property where they had many picnics and campouts. She enjoyed traveling, photography, animals, especially horses, and their kitty, Seneca. She enjoyed many years as a tole painting teacher; sharing her talent with her students. She dearly loved class time and all the fun she and the students shared. She will always be remembered for her keen sense of humor and intense love of nature.
Mary is survived by her husband, of nearly 63 years, Lee; children: Gary of Warren, and Gayle and Gregg of Scappoose; 4 grandsons: Jason and Jesse Templin; and Derek and Dalton Welter; and 4 great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be at St. Frederic Catholic Church in St. Helens on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM with a luncheon to follow. Private interment will be in the family cemetery in Goble, Oregon.
