Melvin K. Shankles' Obituary
Melvin K. Shankles was born on November 26, 1935 in Mesa, Arizona to Lester & Stella Shankes.
He died at a Longview Hospice Center on July 31, 2007 at the age of 71.
He was educated in California, living most of his adult life in the Portland area.
He was married to Betty Gabrielson for 37 years.
He worked for the City of Portland for 33 years, 20 of those years as a truck driver.
Early on he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include: Wife: Betty Shankles of Portland; Children: Robert Shankles of Scappoose; Debra Nye & Kimberley Whitlock; both of Portland; Sister: Roberta of California; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.
