Michael James Dering's Obituary
Celebration of Life Gathering will be held, 1:00 PM, Tuesday, March 23rd at the Columbia Funeral Home, Visitation will be Monday, 1-5 PM. Michael died March 18th in Portland. He was 55.
Michael was born May 16, 1954 in Pullman, Washington to Patrick M. and Eleanor Ward Dering. He was 1 of two sons. A short time after he was born the family move to the Scappoose area where he graduated from Scappoose High in 1972. Michael married Lois Marie Tomberlin April 7, 2001 in Las Vegas. He worked for local 26 for the last 14 years. He had many passions, Hunting deer and elk and was an avid NHRA racing fan. He drove dragsters for many years winning a National Championship for PIR racing team in 1987. You would see him many times in the area riding his Heritage Softail with a smile on his face.
MIchael is survived by his wife; Lois, stepchildren; Tanya Lynn Lane of Sidney, Montana, Grag'r Kincaid of Portland and Dustin Lee Armstrong of St. Helens. 7 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren, mother; Eleanor Christie, nephew; Chris Dering and cousin David Ward, all of Vancouver, Washington. Michael is preceded in death by his dad in 2008 and brother Kelly in 1991.
