Michael James Schmit's Obituary
Michael James Schmit was born on May 9, 1950 in Portland, Oregon to Henry & Victoria Taraba Schmit.
He died at his fathers home in Scappoose on July 8, 2007 at the age of 57.
He lived most of his life in Scappoose, graduating from Scappoose High School in 1968. He was in the Marines for 2 years and a self-employed entrepeneur.
He served 12 years as a Columbia County Sheriffs Posse, received an award for this in 2004. He was president of the American Legion of Columbia County.
He enjoyed playing "Texas Hold'em" at the Moose Lodge on Friday nights.
He was a member of St. Birgitta Catholic Church in Linnton, Oregon.
Survivors include: Father: Henry J. Schmit; Siblings:
Lori McCarthy; Natalie Trtek; Ann Andreotti; La Vonne Lalande; Marita Schmit all of Scappoose; Linda Schmit of Denver, CO.; Bob Schmit of Troutdale, OR.; 17 nieces & nephews.
