Michael R. Johnson's Obituary
Michael R. Johnson was born on January 3, 1941 in Cordova, Alaska to Rufus R. & Erma Lee Merchant Johnson.
He died at a Portland hospital on November 5, 2008 at the age of 67.
He was educated in Alaska moving to Oregon at the age of 11 and graduated from Santiam High School. He was in the Marine Corp from 1963-1969, discharging as a Sargeant.
He worked as a reserve for Clackamas County for 2 years before coming to Scappoose in 1971 and retired as a Sargeant in 1996. He married Kathleen Erickson in Winnemucca, Nevada in 1973.
He was a member of the HOG Harley Owners Group, GWRRA Gold Wing Road Riders Association. His enjoyments included riding motorcycles & horses, guns, leather coats and John Wayne.
Survivors include: Wife: Kathleen Johnson; Daughter & Son-in-law: Heather Ka & Dennis Viereck all of Scappoose; Siblings: Marrianne Karnes of Salem; Linda Matthison of Seattle, WA.; Dennis Johnson of Montana; Derek Haley Ginny of Las Vegas, NV.; 1 granddaughter: Isabelle Viereck; Numerous nieces & nephews.
Celebration of Life: Monday, November 10, 2008 at 1:00 PM at the Columbia County Fairgrounds Pavilion.
