Monna Rose Hogue's Obituary
With a Host of Angels to guide her, Monna Rose Etheridge Hogue was welcomed to her heavenly home on this 29th day of September 2006. Born in Goldsboro, NC to Willie Wayne and Rose Etheridge on May 3rd 1948, Monna was raised and received education in San Antonio TX. She never lost her southern upbringing with her quiet and gentle demeanor. At the age of 19, Monna gave her heart to an Air Force airman stationed in nearby San Antonio, TX. Bob and Monna were married and moved to the great Northwest, making their first home in Richland, Wash., then nearby Benton City and finally in 1976 to St. Helens, Ore. By the time they arrived in St. Helens, their family included three very active sons. A daughter born 3 years later would complete their family. Monna loved her life with family and friends and enjoyed watching her children grow up in a loving community. With life changes, there were many opportunities to move back to Texas, but her roots were now deep in St. Helens and she preferred to stay amoungst family and friends. These same good friends and her family have been there for her through many trials and even to her passing. She was always grateful for their love and concern. Her genteel manner and petite stature belied her strength and passion for life. As a single woman in her early 40's she was challenged to raise and educate her children as well as enter the workplace to make a living. She accomplished this with great fervor and succeeded thru personal persistence and her unrelenting faith. In 2002 she was forced to greatly modify her life when she was challenged with a rare and painful disease, Oro Mandibular Dystonia. In the summer of 2005, she underwent a little known surgical procedure. For the first time in many years, her pain was significantly relieved. Just lwhen Monna's life seemed to be looking brighter, she was diagnosed with cancer. A woman of faith, a woman of prayer, Monna battled this last assault on her body with unwavering strength. She never lost her focus of faith and always believed that God had a purpose for her. Ever the fighting spirit, Monna leaves this world with love and gratitude to her family, her church family, and friends who have loved her into existence for eternity. She joins her father, her maternal and paternal grandparents and nephew, Jordan. She leaves behind to love her always: mother and step-father, Rose and Dick Tacy; sisters, Pamela Luddeke and Joann Nalley and thier families all of Canyon Lake TX; sons, Don Erin of Pasco, Wash; Jarrod Mary of Portland, Ore; Joseph Tracy of Scappoose, Ore, and daughter Dyann Chris of San Diego, Ca; granddaughters Jessica and Riley and grandson, Brody; twin granddaughters due in November, special friends Shirley and Jerry Harrison, and Cecile Molden of St. Helens, and Linda Woodard, Chapel Hill NC; mother-in-law Virginia Hogue; sisters-in-law, Nancy Deranleau and Shirli Hallsted all of Richland, Wash. and their families. Monna and her family are grateful for the love and concern shared by her many friends from the community, Thanksgiving House, and Warren Community Fellowship in Warren. Remembrances may be made in lieu flowers to the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation, American Cancer Society, The Thanksgiving House, or Warren Community Fellowship.
