Norma Joyce Hamlin's Obituary
Norma Joyce Hamlin
December 7, 1928 ~ July 7, 2017
Norma Joyce Hamlin was born in Yakima, Washington on December 7, 1928 and passed away unexpectedly on July 7, 2017 in Scappoose, Oregon with her family at her side. Her husband Calvin passed away 70 days prior and his loss affected her deeply.
Her early life included the same economic struggle shared by most in the Yakima Valley during the depression years, and as a young girl she picked assorted fruits and vegetables.
These early years also formed a belief in empathy and compassion for those, who through no fault of their own found themselves facing physical or financial hardship. She was a very generous person with a biting wit and shovel loads of humor.
Among her gathered joys was a smooth haired fox terrier named Annie, the Seahawks, Reno, cocktails, Sammy Davis and playing cards. To any outside cat she introduced herself and within minutes it was happily fed.
She was very proud of her three grandchildren; Hilary (Scotty) Pike, Markus Hamlin and Haily (Colton) Sargent. Her great grandson Hudson Pike brought her much fun.
She is preceded in death by her husband Calvin Hamlin of 62 years, a son Michael Champagne and son in law Michael Pageler.
She is survived by son Mark (Doreen) Hamlin and daughter Lisa Pageler and many other family members too long to list.
At Norma’s request no funeral will be provided. Please sign our online guestbook at www.columbiafh.com
