Norman Alfred Preheim
September 29, 1942 ~ January 26, 2017
Norman was born in Yankton, South Dakota. The family moved to north Portland when he was in grade school. He attended Roosevelt High School from 1957 to 1960. As a youngster, he was awarded the title of Portland marble champion.
Norm was in the Boiler Maker Union #72 and worked for Northwest Pipe & Casing for over 40 years until early retirement.
He loved to fish and duck hunt with his lifelong “brothers” Bob Eakin and Dave Pauling. He enjoyed restoring and driving classic cars. He was an avid philatelist & member of Rose City Stamp society.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Janice Ziemer Preheim, children Brady Preheim; Eugene & (and wife Michka) Preheim; and Brenda Warden. Grandchildren Trent Preheim; Justin and Alexis Warden, cousin Joyce (Gary) Harrell, brother-in-law’s Lawrence (Christine) Ziemer; Maurice (Lucy) Ziemer; Cliff (Carolyn) Ziemer, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Alfred & Ferne Preheim.
There will be a Celebration of Life Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 2:00 PM at St. Helens Elks Lodge.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the American Diabetes Association.
