Oscar - Haberer's Obituary
Oscar Haberer was born on February 21, 1909 in Venturia, N. Dakota to Gottlieb & Magdelina Breitling Haberer.He died in a Portland hospital on November 23, 2005 at the age of 96.He was educated in N. Dakota and lived for a time in Canada, moving to Scappoose in 1968, living here until present.He was a maintenance and improvements operator for the Brock Candle Company in Scappoose.He helped build the candle on the site that it stands today. It was dedicated in 1971.He was married to Maggie she preceded him in death in '86 and Helen who preceded him in death in '79. He was also welcomed to heaven by his son Ivan, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.He was a member of First Christian Church, the St. Helens Elks Lodge and the Scappoose Senior Center.His enjoyments included ocean fishing, gardening, tinkering and fixing and he was always a big bingo winner at the senior center and the assisted living center where he resided for the last 3 years.Survivors include: Children: Margaret Sailer of Barrhead, Alberta, Canada; Alice Haberer of Olds, Alberta, Canada; Pauline Brunt of Mulino, OR.; Joyce Pallister of High River, Alberta, Canada; Arthur Haberer of Whitehorse, Yukon Territory; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.Viewing & Visitation 9-5 WednesdayFuneral service: Thursday, December 1, 2005 at 1:00 PM at Columbia Funeral Home-St. HelensCommittal service & interment: Columbia Memorial Gardens-Scappoose, OR.Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church.Columbia Funeral Home-Directors
